How did you decide to become a student at Morehouse College?

My younger cousin was enrolling into Morehouse. I went with him to his New Student Orientation. The impression the school had on me compelled me to transfer from the University of North Texas to Morehouse College at the end of my junior year. I was fully aware that I would lose credits but I deemed it worth it.

What professors at Morehouse College left the most impression upon you as a student and/or person? What did they do that continues to mean so much to you to this day?

Dr. Jenkins…my physics professor. (Thank you for reminding me to call him) He was an excellent communicator and he had a strong spiritual awareness and social conscious. Dr. Artis C. Jenkins.

What is the story of your “experience” to date at Morehouse College given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?

Transfer student moves to Atlanta to make a name for himself, and gets a lot more than he bargained for. The road wasn’t easy but it was worth it.

 

Where were the spots to go to if you wanted to cuddle with your boy or girlfriend?

Your room or dorm.

 

What were the best restaurants on and near the campus? Which dishes do you enjoy the most?

Mr. EverythingFood for Life Supreme, Or the Jamaican lady who makes food during Hump Wednesdays

 

What were the chants heard most often at the sporting events?

“Papa was a rolling stone…” Morehouse Edition or “Nobody stops the House”

 

Who was your College crush?

She knows who she was… I dated her.

 

How did you overcome your nervousness about going to college?

I went. I got over it. You have to leave your comfort zone to go to the next level.

 

What was your major? and Why did you choose it?

Business was my major. I majored in business because my passion was art. I figured I’d always be creative but I needed to know how to sell my services.

Julian you are a genius, your knowledge of self guided you to make a wise decision. Everything in life is about “selling” per se. You are a living example of how self knowledge makes for wise choices.

 

What was your proudest moment @ Morehouse College?

Graduating.

 

What was your saddest moment @ Morehouse College?

Finding out I wouldn’t graduate when expected.

 

What did you pledge? And why? And if not, why not?

How were you positively active on campus? (e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)

I provided graphic design for the SGAAlumni RelationsScience DepartmentBusiness Department. I was also President of the Morehouse Entrepreneurship Network.

Where was the “yard” located?

On the Hill.

 

What and where were the historical places on campus?

Benjamin Graves site, King Chapel, The Strip, Spelman Gate, In front of Jazzmans.

Are there any ghost stories involving buildings or spots on campus?

absolutely.

 

How many “firsts” did you have at college ? What were they? (e.g. first road trip, first job interview, first love, first “F or A”, etc.)

first internship. first time in new york, first time buying a suit, first time being drunk, first time in a car accident, first time purchasing a new car… I mean this can go on and on lol

 

If you could speak to those family members that have risen but that live forever through you, what words would you speak?

Not sure I understand this question.

 

Whats your take on life (in the philosophical sense)?

Your life is your portfolio. How you live is what people will remember you as. Build a nice portfolio.

 

If you could only speak two sentences to the youth coming after you what would you say?

You were born smarter but weaker than previous generations. Try to be as strong as they were.
