How did you decide to become a student at Miles College?
My families who are mostly HBCU graduates all encouraged me to attend an hbcu.

What professors at Miles College left the most impression upon you as a student and/or person? What did they do that continues to mean so much to you to this day?
Mr. Frederick Hill (email him at Fhill[AT]miles.edu) and Dorothy Rowe (RIP) their truly sincere and honest care about me and other students.. they always encouraged me and never gave me what I wanted to hear they gave me what I needed to hear to be a graduate.
What is the story of your “experience” at Miles College given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious HBCU?
Miles college is Alabamas’ well kept secret.. We have all kinds of professors from all walks of life that teach there and who encourage you and present opportunities to you no matter your gpa so you can move forward in life.
Where were the spots to go to if you wanted to cuddle with your boy or girlfriend?
My boyfriend did not go to miles he attended a traditional university. The Phoenix was the place to go or Midfield park.
What were the best restaurants on and near campus? Which dishes did you enjoy the most?
We had the “bear cave” and the best dish was the special sauce and the philly cheese steak.

We gon(sic) start this thing off right……
Who was your College crush?
How did you overcome your nervousness about going to college?
What was your major? and Why did you choose it?
My major was political science.. because I wanted to use my mouth for more than complaining I needed facts and a way to be heard by people who make the decision for the changes I wanted to see in my area.
What has been your proudest moment @ Miles College?
What was your saddest moment @ Miles College?
When the President of our college died Dr. Albert Sloan.
How were you positively active on campus?(e.g. clubs, SGA, etc.)
Where was the “yard” located?
The center of campus
What and where were the historical places on campus?
The campus was historic.. Miles was the only place during the sixties where blacks could meet and there were not any problems or bombing…
Are there any ghost stories involving buildings or spots on campus?
How many “firsts” did you have at college ? What were they? (e.g. first road trip, first job interview, first love, first “F or A”, etc.)
The first time I could be myself and wasn’t judged or put down.
If you could speak to those family members that have risen but that live forever through you, what words would you speak?
I am sorry for not working hard to achieve what you fought for me to achieve but I will get back on track to finish the fight that you died to see me achieve.
When and how did you discover your passion in life?
When I got to Miles I have always been a talker but I decided to use my mouth in a more influential way and Miles help make that into a reality
Whats your take on life (in the philosophical sense)?
In life there are people you are suppose to touch for everyone else that is somebody else job.
If you could only speak two sentences to the youth coming after you what would you say?
Find your passion in life. Don’t let anyone sink your ship trying to float their boat.
