Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
Growing up, my mom worked with high school students and was a part of the communities HBCU College Tour program. Every year we would go and tour numerous college campuses with hopes that each student would find the one for them.
Blair Polite of Florida A & M University, Class of 2018
Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
To be completely honest, I choose an HBCU over a PWI because I wasn’t accepted into the PWI of my dreams. FAMU was one of the other 4 schools I was accepted into. It took some soul searching and serious conversations with God, and he lead me to the BEST HBCU in the land!
What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
FAMU prepares you for the REAL WORLD. There are no hand outs and no easy ways out. Hard work & determination is what you need to survive at the “College of Love and Charity”. It’s a fufilling feeling to be surround by peers who all share a common goal.
